Riboswitch Structure Prediction

Welcome to the web pages of Jeffrey Barrick!

Currently, I am a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratories of Richard Lenski and Charles Ofria at Michigan State University.

My research interests are in studying evolutionary processes to understand how they reach such interesting solutions in nature and how they can be applied to engineer more creative and effective solutions in the laboratory. Currently, I conduct evolution experiments with bacteria and digital organisms to understand relationships between evolvability and genetic regulation. In the past, I have used bioinformatic techniques to discover new noncoding RNAs (especially riboswitches) in bacterial genomes.
